Chan:
Tibetan exiles in Kolkata, India have stirred up a movement to gain public support against Chinese aggression in Tibet. They are joined by exiles across the globe, who are also expressing their wish for a free Tibet.
STORY:
The exiles demand that the Beijing Olympic Games be stopped. They are also calling for the exiled Dalai Lama to be allowed to live in Tibet.
A group of Tibetan college students have formed a group called 'Students For A Free Tibet.'
The students say they want to make people aware of Tibet and the internal situation in their country burdened by Chinese oppression.
[Velo Gerong, Students For A Free Tibet]:
"In Kolkata we want to make people aware of Tibet. Because when we used to talk about Tibet, most of the people, they have no particular idea. They used to tell us we know the name Tibet, but we don't know what's the situation going inside. If slowly all the people get aware of things, it will be very easy for us to convey our message internationally."
They further added that they hope to garner as much support as possible for their fight against China, urging the people to be fair and just while taking a stand.
[Kisang Tudu Bhutia, Students For A Free Tibet]:
"We want actually everyone to be aware and help us. We just need help from all over the world. The support to fight against the Chinese. Because China is a very strong country, it's a communist country and a very big country, a powerful nation. We Tibetans are minority. We just want the entire world to look at what is happening there, at the situation. I just want them to be fair. People should be fair."
Communist authorities are keen to stamp out any unrest quickly before the Olympics.
But it may be too late for the Chinese to cast that illusion, with events in Tibet anything but a sign of unity.
Shameless Chinese authorities!! Stop cultural genocide in Tibet. Now it is 21 century and it is not Stone Age and the world could see everything Chinese authority s animal treatment of Tibetans behind the transparent curtain. There is no way to cheat easily the whole world by Chinese authoritys propaganda.
