  • I agree with Defenders0fCreation I wouldent buy it when it came out. But it was amazing... the 3d effects blew me away, but I was super high when I seen it.

  • LOL, this seems like the movie to get high to.

Not that I'm encouraging it, I stopped smoking years ago.

  • it was a decent movie. i think it was over hyped though. in my opinion its worth seeing..but im not going to spend my money getting the dvd when it comes out. its a 1 time experience

  • Okay. I appreciate the perspective. Might be something to go see just for the in theater experience.

  • apparently avatar was amazing ;)

  • @brianjeppesen Nah, I appreciate the in depth response.

I agree that having racism in a movie doesn't equate to promoting it; it's whether or not it projects a racist attitude or theology.

I have no ideal about that in regards to this film one way or the other, as I've not even seen any substantive clips of the plot. I don't know how race would even play into it, because I thought it was all about some weird looking blue people.

  • Part 3: The protagonist's quest is to save the alien species from humans. And no, it's not saying that it takes a white man to save a black man. Set color aside and consider the message that a person should be able to see past his own color and not make decision based on it. It's a good message, in my opinion. That said, you've seen it before, so if you watch it, catch it in 3D at least, since it does add to the artistic experience.

Sorry to talk your head off. Hope this helps.

  • Part 2: So, if you watch it, don't expect there to be any surprises. It's still a good plot though, and there are a few interesting differences. I don't believe that this movie has a racist subtext. It's actually the opposite, promoting equality. To say it's racist is the same as saying Star Wars Episode 6 is evil because it has the emperor in it. Yes, there is racism in the film, but it's frowned upon, not glorified. To be continued...

  • First, I enjoyed Spiderman. Don't let that dissuade you from reading my opinion though. I'm the type of guy who can enjoy a movie just for it's visuals or action. But I'm also a professional writer, so I know a good plot when I see one. Spiderman wasn't it. Now, Avatar is a good plot, but the one thing that put me off was that the plots been done many times over. In fact, if the Native Americans in Disney's Pocahontas we blue, you'd basically have Avatar. To be continued...

  • Hmm, I'll have to see if there's any writing about this on thenet.
