Correct dean. And most people dont even know the name of the play was going to be cunt. That is what Fonda was saying.

OH come on people! NBC is falling all over themselves in apology for this, and Meredith Vieira even apologies at the end for what was no more than a "slip" of the tongue. And oh - it's OK to use the word "Vagina" on national television, but using the word cunt is not? It stands for the very same thing in the context of human sexuality, though it is most often used in our society to convey a negative, even hostile slant. This is silly - it's just a word; a sound - it has no meaning other than

what we give it in popular society. If you were standing on a street corner in China and yelled "CUNT" at the top of your voice, you may get some strange looks from passers by, but no one would be offended! Are NBC, CBS, ABC and all the others so frightened of offending people and losing that almighty dollar that they fall all over themselves in apology? Come on - it's just a word. This is 2010 - we're not living in the religious dark ages.

This is a modern progressive society and it seems to me that there are many way more pressing and serious issues than someone saying a nasty word on television! If your kids hear it, pull them aside and explain to them what it means (if they ask - they mostly likely will not ask) and then move on. Don't give it more attention than it deserves. It's just a word and it was said only once. Get over it people. It's time society grows up.

NBC: Grow a pair and stand firm and remember Freedom Of The Press. Last time I checked, it was still a free press. And besides, your ratings probably went up, not down - all because of a word.
Only Jane Fonda can make saying the word cunt look classy.
