Check also part 2 of the video under the same title. NHL goal scorer and sniper Ilya Kovalchuk of the New Jersey Devils, formerly of the Atlanta Thrashers, during the pre-game warm-up / practice at ScotiaBank Place in Ottawa on March 17, 2011 (Devils @ Senators 3/17/11). The native of Tyer, USSR, now Russia, was selected 1st overall in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft by the Altanta Thrashers. In 2008, at the IIHF World Hockey Championship, Kovalchuk scored his only two goals of the tournament in the gold medal game against Canada including the game-tying goal and the game winner against Cam Ward. After eight seasons with the Thrashers, he was traded to the Devils in February 2010. As a free agent, he signed a whopping 17-year with the Devils in 2010 but the contract was ruled invalid by the NHL. Shortly after, Kovalchuk signed a 15-year, $100 million contract with the Devils.

@slimjimm8, this game was a must win for the Devils. Loosing to the 2nd worst team in the NHL didn't help!
