I wasn't a crew chief or sheetmetal, so I couldn't answer that. I don't even think a visual would have caught that and only NDI would catch the damage? I was stationed at Langley for 5 years and have been at a depot for the last 7.

I Know, I worked phase for 3 years. Not carded but haven't you ever failed for non carded items?

Nope. This was in a area that a typical phase crew would not inspect. Try again.

well when you plane falls apart around you it's pretty fortunate to escape just like that... that was hardly an optimal ejection condition with your cockpit spinning around like that.

That was the problem precisely. Due to the incorrect manufacturing the longerons in question here didn't last as long as they were designed to last.
