[Part 3 of 6] Votive Mass of the Blessed Virgin Mary -- a Mass offered in her honor -- at the Roman Catholic Priory of St. Pius X in Warsaw, Poland.

This same Mass may be viewed or downloaded on Google as one full-length video: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=830868996440594893

This is the Eucharistic liturgy of the Roman Rite of the Catholic Church celebrated as a Missa Cantata, or sung Latin Mass, according to the 1962 Roman Missal (Missale Romanum), also commonly referred to as the Tridentine Rite, or Tridentine Mass, or Tridentine Latin Mass, or Old Latin Mass, or classical Latin Mass, or Traditional Latin Mass (TLM).

A "missa cantata" is an approved form of celebration of the Traditional Roman Rite of Mass which serves as a compromise between a Low Mass (which involves no music or incense, by definition) and a Solemn High Mass (which has strict instructions and requirements for celebration that cannot be met in many parishes). For more information, please read this fine article in the 1913 Catholic Encyclopedia: http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/09790b.htm

The texts of the Latin prayers, and English translations of the same, which are common to every Traditional Latin Mass can be found here: http://www.sacred-texts.com/chr/lmass/ord.htm

  • Deo Gratias

  • Dominus nos benedicat, et ab omni malo defendat, et at vitam perducat aeternam. Amen.

  • @amrascarpathia Tridentine Mass is the name usualy employed to the whole Roman Rite since the 1570 missal. The mass at a Cathedral, I guess you mean the Pontifical Mass, celebrated by the bishop. Yes, there are differences, the pontifical mass is more elaborated and longer, and the bishop celebrates the first half from his throne. The Solemn High Mass is celebrated by a priest with deacon and subdeacon. This one is a Missa cantata (Sung Mass) celebrated by a priest only.

  • How does this mass differ from a mass that you would see at the local cathedral? i know that the Solemn High Mass has some differences to the Tridintine Mass, which, as I understand, was what was offered at most parishes.

  • *sigh* yeah there were a LOT of little details to keep track of. even which thumb goes over which (right over left)

  • Votive Mass of 3rd class with Gloria but without Credo.

Credo is prayed on sundays, feasts of 1st class and feasts of 2nd class of the Lord and of Our Lady.

  • No Creed?

  • You need to stop shooting your mouth off... your making a fool out of yourself.

  • Is this Karl Stehlin, FSSPX?
