After our climb up we decided the next day to train it up. Bit boring but gives you an idea. Hopefully it is better on a good day. A new Station/cafe is opening in late Summer 2008. How exciting is that!!

  • Yes we were a little disappointed that it was not a steam engine, however very interesting. The Steam engines are still in operation and it's all new at the top.

  • @snotmale That's a fair point actually. I walked up a few years ago - it was near torrential rain when I set off, faded to just thick cloud somewhere between Halfway and Clogwyn. Spent perhaps an hour at the top before setting off back down. Watched the clouds starting to lift on the approach to Clogwyn, and by the time I was back at Halfway it was perfectly clear. Turned out to be a beautiful evening.

  • At £25 return it is represents daylight robbery.

  • I did this in 1980! Then it was steam...?

Anyway tip for all.. Weather watching pre trip. DON'T go up on a day that starts off sunny/fine. Go on a cloudy day, as when you get to top it will be fine!
