It's great to see that you didn't beat him up over it and just took him back to the basics. He'd probably just lost his confidence in the first place, poor boy. I'd say you've done a fabulous job with him, well done!

Congrats!! There is no better feeling than accomplishing something that you never thought possible... Especially when that something involves another living being that has his OWN ideas on what he wants (and doesn't want) to do.
Massive, amazing kudos to you! Your patience has paid off :)

wow. me and my bff r 11, we've been riding since we were 2, we own behaved beautiful horses, and we jump
-
You got him going good in the end, well done (;

why are some of you being so negative towards her? yes it showed her stop at two jumps, but so what? she wouldn't have made the video for nothing. That happens to me, my horse stopped at a 3rd hole cross pole and went clear, they all have there days,

two stops doesnt show much... if you filmed me and my old pony jumping on somedays, ill get 4 stops in the practise ring and go on to do a clear and get placed.

well done

awwwww love this vid great riding by the way
Good for you both! You should be as proud of yourself as you are of your pony. You did the right thing. You took time, and started with basics. That's really all it takes. Sadly, most people do not want to take the time it takes.

Please please please please... I know you made this a while ago but I hope you can answer this.. How did you train him not to just run through jumps or ditch them? My pony does that.. My trainer will help me train him.. but I only get lessons every 2 weeks and its killing me that he wont jump. How exactly did you do it??:)

@hannahhorsego Basically, I started off with poles on the floor, and very very gradually raised them (as shown at the start of the jumping part). So basically, he learnt that actually, poles WEREN'T going to eat him, and then by only raising them ever so slightly, he also learnt that if he was to stop..he had to walk over them! Also, I did quite a bit with him on the ground, where I would run over a jump, and he would follow me over - you could maybe try that? :) Good luck and keep us posted:) x
