Enjoy these sights while you can, some humans can care less about its environment and are destroying it.Too much over fishing and environmental disasters, sometimes the future just looks ugly.

Aren't they harmless?

Really cool ya lucky bugger. When is hammerhead season in the cocos islands and what is the name of the tune. I'm very envious, only managed to get about 3 hammers max on any of my dives.

Is it just me or does that not seem like there is maybe 10 different clips of sharks..not "hundreds of hammerheads" lol

yeah, I noticed that. My ID3 tag on the song had a misspelling. The song is Kismet, track 5, on the album Born by Bond.

just a few thing....that video is awesome...nice to see people not trying to kill them for a change. you can never be sure that you are safe in the water with hammerheads, but if its what you like then its a risyou are willing to take. and as far as evolution, one theory is that they evolved that head shape to be better at detecting and maneuvering to catch prey that will sometimes bury itself in the sea floor. -RAF

Hammerheads in Cocos are there to be cleaned and are extremely cautious. It would be impossible to touch one for example. On a subsequent trip, when I was only shooting still, I had a dive where literally hundreds of hammerheads swarmed our group and came within 3 feet consistently. So many sharks that it started to go dark yet there was absolutely no danger. In many ways Cocos can be a difficult trip but sharks are never the problem :)
