I think the procreation part is to gain more Catholics brought into the world. My Grandmother has 13 Children all baptized Catholics.
This outdated and needs looking at, having a baby is your own personal choice and nobody has the right to decide this for you.
Its the same with homosexuality. This is outdated also, you would be surprised how many would raise their hands in Catholic Churches that have gay children or family members and accept them.
