i got the same shiny sh@t. nice stuff isn`t it??.
i did the same repaint with my reveal the shield prowl and starscream,
to make prowl/bluesteak/smokescreen.
and starscream/thundercracker/skyw
arp. for shading did you try armypainter quikeshade.
there are 3 grades:soft tone,strong tone,dark tone.
becarefull do not get it in any moving parts it can work as a glue,
it also gives your model a protectiv coating.

What if you used a gloss or matt finish after painting and then do the black wash? Then another layer of the finish.

@Prime92 i think that would work. and just mask around the parts you dont want painted.

Some advice is to use the masking gunk to protect the areas of the joints. Keep paint off those bits 'cos the thing may not go together properly with a layer of dried paint messing up the fitting. You get my drift?

@2Old4Toys cool. the drift has been gotten i wonder if the thinner will eat through the liquid masking... that would be a good experiment. and also see how it works against tape... any other advice?
