  • 3. The stability of the internet. Networking is a key ingredient in their architecture. However, networks change, standards change. 10 years ago people were mostly using dialup connections. Now cable and fiber is the technology du jour. Tomorrow we may all be connected by a magic carpet of wireless.

  • @Josey2006 - The Enphase system does not require an internet connection. Internet is only needed if you decide to use the Enphase Enlighten monitoring system.

  • I would like to create a display using two panels and two enphase inverters for portable promotional purposes. is there a way to show power output without having the system grid intertied? love the product and thanks

  • @gridtiedtoo Glad you like our product. At this time we're a grid-tied solution only.

  • When you exceed the demand of the building's load, does the AC solar power simply run the existing utility meter backwards at a 1 to 1 ratio?

  • Yes. If your solar array is producing more than the combined loads being used in the building, your electricity meter will run backwards watt-per-watt for what you are producing during that time of excess.

  • Enphase is a no brainer. System is genius.

    -Proffesional Solar Installer

  • You know these things have to be expensive, they don't mention or advertise the price. Any product they have to force sell has to be too expensive. I think I'll wait 4 or 5 years and pick them up on e-bay.

  • 2. Reliance on Enphase maintaining a set of internet serves. - Emerging technologies have a history of disappearing. It wold be tragic for users to design a system which becomes unsupported after 5 years.

  • I think the one drawback of this product is the need for having a remote gateway to Enphase's website. It forces the user to:

    1. Have an internet connection. - What if you're someone who doesn't want to have and maintain an internet connection? No reason for Enphase not to support an intranet monitoring capability.
