NEW WILMINGTON, Lawrence County-- Beneath the lower side of the manicured Westminster Quad lies a forgotten passageway. Buried under the sidewalks and the lawn is a piece of the institution's past that offered a link for the women who once lived in Browne and Ferguson halls. It's a college landmark of sorts despite most students today have no idea it exists. Click this story to listen to this special online report and see more pictures.

I lived in the tunnel from 1972 to 1976. I survived on scraps of pizza from the food service smugled to me from my brother's in the sigma nu fraternity.

It's so sad they closed the tunnel. I graduated in '93 and was an RA in Browne for 3 years (lived there all 4 years). I remember not only using the tunnel to visit friends in Ferguson but also helping with sorority murals and generally keeping the tunnel clean as a part of my RA rounds. The video does not reflect how cool some of the murals were-- it looks like the last of the work done there is graffiti. I wonder if any of what I put on the walls is still there :)
