The Two Ronnies Colditz Sketch part one

Escape Committee Bulletin
Sincere thanks to our wonderful forger Lydz25 for providing us with this- he's a good forger and such a useful and resourceful chap.

Oh look the Brigadier! We want the Brigadier in our committee.
The Escape Officer just loves Escape Officer Whitmore- he's doing a very difficult job in very trying circumstances.

Both Carters are very short aren't they- I'm sure our Mr Carter would be a little touchy about jokes about his height, he'd probably go off and sulk somewhere.

None of this go it alone stuff- quite right too

Anyone with escapologist experience please contact the Escape Officer

  • According to IMDB, Ronnie Corbett is only 5'1"! That's shorter than DMC I'm sure.

  • Well a website called CelebHeightscom (bless the internet) informs me that during NCIS filming Mr McCallum was 5 ft 7.5inches but that in 1965 (the time of his peak height) he was 5 ft 8.

  • I could reach that in heels, though escaping in heels might be a tad difficult :)

  • w00p

Glad I was of assistance and you managed to get it!

  • thanks again lydz, it's very shiny quality as well- it's a shame my colditz episodes aren;t that clear- oh well its cause theyve been loved more. :)

  • Thanks for posting this Shovewood!

  • and thanks also to Lydz the forger for providing it- just the sort of enterprising resourcefulness the escape officer likes to see

  • @HitchcockJohn No, it's a chap named Dickie, but he's played by Nicholas Courtney, who played the Brig.

  • @brownsrd16 As I recall, that last item finished up with, "Which as yet has no title, perhaps viewers can think of one."

  • This is going to sound unlikely... but at 01.56 when the German guard is looking for Corbett, the prisoner who looks directly into the camera for about 1 second looks remarkably like Hans Meyer, who was the South African German actor who played the German security officer in the real Colditz TV serial. Actually, I'm convinced it is. What do others think?

  • I'm almost certain that's Dover Castle

  • @rulebritannia1 looks like dover castle

  • " Next week we'll be reviewing three films. The first is about a welsh mining town. That's called 'Coal tips'. The second is set in a prison of war. That's called 'Colditz'. The last stars Rachel Welch as an eskimo. We're not sure whats that's called!"

The Two Ronnies at their very best.

  • Pity they didn't turn Colditz into one of their serials; I think this idea has the potential for one.

  • @Shovewood In the TV series it was David who got in the tea chest. He does look much smaller than the others - but maybe not as much as Ronnie C.

  • I think one of the prisoners is the Brigidier from Doctor Who.
