@alchap9695 She was. In 2003.

I'd like to see Carol Burnett honored at the Kennedy Center Honors. She more than deserves it.

poohman67: It's too bad she didn't record more. She can definitely hang with the best of them. She could definitely have been a really successful singer, even without acting.

OldieMusicMan: I don't know what some people are thinking, but this woman can damn sure sing!! This song is my favorite Carol Burnett song. She has a fantastic voice. I don't know what people are thinking by saying she can't sing.

jjarndyce: What are you talking about? I know I'm only 26 so I don't know as much about Carol Burnett as some of the older generations, but I know a great singer when I hear one and this woman can SANG!!! I don't think she's flat; this is how the song is written. I watched the biography special on Carol on TV and she's definitely earned her status. Her voice is amazing! I think she could have been a HUGE music star, up there with Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle, Barbra Streisand, and Diana Ross.

I watched the biography on WTTW Channel 11 in Chicago. She's more than earned everything she has and more. I think she should have been a much bigger star. She's got an amazing voice. She could have a major singer. Still, she's a true legend. I wish Carol much continued success in her career.

Ah thank you so much for putting this clip back up, it was one of the ones I missed most since the original BestArts was suspended.
Just wanted to say thank you for slowly but surely putting such great pieces of theatre back up for all of us to experience :)

Even though the character says it's "supposed to be a sad song... So I gave it sad and 1,800 people fell apart," I can't help but smile when I see Carol doing this song. She shows that Carlotta regrets some of the things that she did, but she is a survivor and all in all, it's a very uplifting and cleansing song.
One of Sondheim's best, and Carol absolutely nailed it. What happened to the first two "Good times and bum times" and "I've been through Gandhi" verses?
