http://e85carbs.com/ 702 hp blown 383 on E85
i converted a 5 hp briggs and stratton engine to run on E85. E85 is 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline. its octane rating is 105 conmared to that of unleaded galoline at 87. E85 also cools the incomming air down about 20 degrees which makes the air denser. this makes more horse power. the increased octane rating allows for advanced ignition timing and a high compression ratio of 12:1. that makes more horse power. to convert the carburetor to E85, you must first have the right kind of carb. the older style carbs that have the carb mounted to the gas tank are the kind that are easy ot convert. to drill out the holes, use hobby drill bits because they are extreamly small. if any of you have any questions or comments, fell free to post them.

  • @CrudeDude it is not a lack of compression. E100 or E98 is like 117+ octane. you can compress the shit out of it. sound to me like your car needs an upgraded fuel system. 13:1 is not that high of compression for E100. even E85 can handle 13:1 compression. try dumping a lot more fuel in and you should beat 100LL. the only thing i use 100LL is for flying. i haven't rented a plane in years.

  • @switchgrassfuel "Don't knock it if you haven't tried it" I run a California street legal 3100 pound car with a 13:1 420" engine @ 13:1 on E100. Ran 11.90 on street tires thru the mufflers. I HAVE tried it. The car runs quicker on 100LL gasoline than alky because of the lack of compression.

  • @CrudeDude i doubt he lost power. E85 may have less btu than gas but you can put way more fuel in a cylinder and still get good combustion. I have never lost any power using E85. just use more fuel. don't knock it till you try it. E85 is a grate fuel.

  • @Towlieee You're exactly right! I was wondering how much power he lost switching to E85! No squeeze, stock timing....LOL...probably got it down to about 4 HP! LOL!

  • The song from 3:48 to 4:34 is Celebrate by Three Dog Night

  • Am I retarded for not knowing what E-85 is?

  • nice job

  • @jmoney321123 e85 will actually make you lose horsepower, unless you build your motor to benefit from the higher octane of the e85. With advanced ignition timing and/or more compression you can gain more power with e85 over standard low octane fuel

  • @CarboNHeaD123 yes, diesel is called diesel, and pretty much all we have is low sulfer, and off road. and we have the standard 3 differnt gas grades
