  • The still photos shown of the Astronuts are of Gus Grissom and Ed While while training for Apollo 1.

  • Yep I noticed that! Seems a bit strange they did that!

  • Thanks for this...it is great!

  • I keep expecting James Burke to explain all the historical "Connections" which lead to the development of this rocket technology ;)

  • Bernard Lovell is still alive at 98, ten years older than Patrick.

  • @lunarmodule5 Probably a tribute

  • @paratrooper629 Yeah an insult to Apollo 1 ( God rest them ) and Apollo 8! The real moon mission!!

  • Sir Patrick is completely mad...

  • In 1968, BBC-1 was still in black-and-white, and BBC-2 had begun colo(r)r broadcasting.

Perhaps the Apollo coverage was simulcast, in black-and-white on BBC-1 and in colo(u)r on BBC-2.

If that was the case, hopefully, colo(u)r footage will surface.

  • why why why would you disable the embedding ?

    :P

  • I also thought it was weird that they used the Apollo 1 crew photo, but in a way it is a nice tribute to those three brave astronauts who gave their lives to ensure Apollo 8 and the other flights would get to the moon and return safely. There were so many close calls, Apollo 13 being the scariest. Those astronauts were brave men...God bless them all.

  • James Burke become known the American viewers from the Connections series aired on PBS.
