I was someone who thought the Jaguar was a joke. I finally got one in a trade and I am very impressed.
I have Missile Command 3D and Tempest 2000. I think those two games make the Jaguar worth owning, but my favorite Power Drive Rally. That game is a great example of a fun game that gets the player hooked! If you like Micro Machines on any of the 8-bit or 16 bit consoles, check out Power Drive Rally.
I have started to buy all the other Jaguar games, and so far it's been fun!

I had this console like 10 years ago. With all due respect.. it whas an utter piece of shit. I sold my gameboy just to get the money to buy this thing but luckily I could trade it in for a PS1 after I told the shopkeeper I lost my receipt lol
They where about the same price than lmao

Did someone just say that Highlander was a "good" game! LOL! That's why some of you get tagged as fanboys.

Perhaps my choice of words, mainly calling people "Atari fanboys" was not the best given the context on my first post, but I do stand by my assessment of Jaguar's game library - it is indeed appalling and for the most part worthy of all kinds of ridicule. Even the titles that stand out from the rest would've been considered mediocre by other platform's standards.
I will not argue your point of Jaguar's hardware power - I am not a good-enough programmer to objectively assess that.

Atari fanboys bug me. There is some bizarre undercurrent of misguided, almost cult-like "damn-the-torpedoes" elitism that permeates all Jaguar fan forums. Jaguar wasn't great, but the games it received were mostly terrible beyond all reason, as seemingly Jag development didn't require artists or even competent interface designers. This trend lives on even with the new games made for the system - if I saw this as a free download on GameMaker forum - I'd pass on it, much less pay $80 to own it.

I received my copy yesterday, and played it for a couple of hours last night!
It's a breakout style game: you use your paddle to keep the planets bouncing on screen. You also have a green gunsight; you can move it vertically also, and shoot bad guys as well as the planets. If objects hit you, they cause visible damage to you.
You can also catch astronauts and drop them into the space-station that floats by for power-ups.
It's an odd game but I like it. I hope we see more from these guys!

Glad you can admit that the Jaguar did have some great games.

Because some of the best Jaguar games were on other systems. But even including EVERYTHING on the system there was still a lack of great titles. If you like fighting games Primal Rage was your best be. RPG's you were assed out unless you owned a Jag CD. And that was the Highlander game? They had a good library of FPS, decent side scroller's and racers. But damn near all the other genre's were scarce on the system.
People who use the term fanboy in reference to anyone who defends something they like bug me.
Atari fans get sick of people coming onto forums spouting infactual drivel about platforms they no little about.
The Jag was a 2D power house. It was 2nd only to the Saturn in that respect, which had 2 years more development. A lot of games on the Jaguar were appauling, but that wasn't down to the technical abilities of that system, but the flaws with Atari developer support.

And what did you expect from a fan made game? I agree there is no way in hell that I'd pay that sort of money for that sort of game. But at the end of the day they aren't a professional developer with a huge budget or expensive development tools.
I respect them for doing what they love regardless of what others think.
There's just no respect anymore.
