I miss these type of players. When you played the 9ers with Lott, every WR would be scared shitless running a route over the middle of the field.

You know when ur a legend when they make rule changes because of you. Dick "Night Train" Lane tackled everyone above the neck. They changed pass coverage rules because of Mel Blount. If people watch your highlight reels because you go all out and give it everything you got heart and soul, Ronnie Lott, Jack Lambert, Ray Lewis, Troy Polamalu are some examples of those kinda guys.

Ronnie Lott was truly one of those players who made an impact immediately. I can remember the Packers' management got a total fan-reaming after they passed on RL in the draft. Off the field, he was a very generous player. He wasn't a dirty player by any means; he hit clean and hard.Even in his later years, the opposing team tried to avoid throwing his way, mainly because the receivers were afraid.

Ronnie Lott is probably the best defensive player i know. He is a great tackler but he is not a dirty player unlike Butkus or Tatum.
