Q&A part V of the Hitchens vs. Turek debate at VCU, VA. Full debate: http://www.vimeo.com/1904911

Again ethics, Hitchens reference about Sokrates who would feel shame when making a dishonest or shady argument clearly points at Tureks demagoguery (Hitler=Humanist) from before.

At 3:03 Hitchens is asked about the purpose of life though, enjoy the answer.

  • Quite amusing to watch that fellow sitting next to Hitchens getting completely destroyed. He is so out of his depth, it is almost embarrassing to behold...

  • Turek hasn't taken a shit in years.

  • @ghastin1 Each of the four horsemen have their own approach to the subject.

Hitchens' approach was based on his view of the world through politics, and how morality weights on belief and action through belief.

Harris takes a neuropsychological stance and notes the urgency of realizing the detrimental effects that can arise from belief.

Dawkins is very straightforward; He compares physical evidence vs belief.

Dennett uses philosophy to analyze why anyone would even feel the urgency to believe.

  • I sure hope Sam Harris has what it takes to step into Hitchens shoes....

  • When Hitchens says pleasure is "gloating over the misfortunes of others" he's referencing the founding Christian doctrine that one of the joys of being in Heaven was looking down upon Hells lake of fire and watching the torment of non-Christians.

Its beautifully ironic that Turek is too dim to pick up on this.

  • "The biggest problem with Christianity is Christians."

The only sensible thing Turek has ever said.

  • the purpose is there is no purpose. we have a miniscule amount of time on the Earth, so make your OWN mind of what YOU want for yourself, your inner morals and ethics, not what your society says.
