Inundation Monarchs and Helicopters

Since around 07.09.01 an area in central Ohio north of Columbus has been inundated with monarch butterflies. If you walk under trees, flocks of monarchs fly away. Sometimes 5-15 can be seen hanging from one branch.

It was a good year for caterpillars also. Many monarch caterpillars (and many fuzzy, wolley caterpillars) could be seen at once munching on milkweed and butterfly weed. By September much of the milkweed was stripped of leaves, so that just stalks remained. However, by the first of September, no caterpillars were visible.

Also shown is a flight of 6 helicopters traveling over (07.09.03), but I didn't get a picture of them traveling over the house.

Is there an airfield near to where you live?

Port Columbus Airfield is about 30 miles away and the Springfield Ohio base (military) is about 100 miles.

There have been a lot of interesting helicopters go over recently. Today a formation of 4 medflight ones went over. I am having trouble with the message updating AND the sorting by view.
