I won First place with this piece in the Gaelic Acapella Singing Competition at the Pittsburgh Winter Feis in 2007 and at the Pittsburgh Halloween Feis in 2011. It is one of my favorites. Hurray!!! For the pronunciation I was aided by my Mother, an award winning Gaelic scholar, and by a retired Irish nun who now lives here in Birmingham. Her name is Sister Anna. It is actually a sad little song as this fellow is real proud of his boat and in the end it crashes.
Let me also clarify that I'm not a Sean nos singer nor any other kind of traditional Irish singer. I'm simply a classically trained singer singing an Irish melody in Gaelic. And I've been most pleased with how much people like the song.
