that looks to me like its applying im betting 100 ton of force (im being a bit liberal on my estimates)

I was told by one of the guys that now works in our research and design office that he recalled that particular press being 500 or 800, but couldn't recall exactly what. I thought I remember someone saying 300, let's just say 500 (+/- 300) tons.

The outer shell that is shown in the video above is 1/8" thick, because of the drawn shape and the work hardening of the steel that occurs when it is stretched like that, the finished part is equivalent in strength to a part between 3/16 and 1/4 thick steel without the weight. In the finished product, there is also a rear closeout panel that is welded into this part that is formed from 3/16 steel but designed to fold in a severe impact without damaging the frame of the vehicle.
