Aion, spam & the lack of counter spam tools

I just had it today, a week into Aion and the spam is getting to me. So, I took a couple of hours of play time to record, render and upload a video rant on how horrible Aion's tools are for dealing with this issue of gold spammers in game.

Some notes for the annotationless. Yes, I know about /anon. Disabling that is not acceptable as it also prevents other people from finding us. The price of having that limited social function turned on should not be endless spam.

Also, yes, Aion has been out 6 months in Korea and China. I am well aware that it has only been out 9 days in NA (including the head start) but the game has been released in the world for 6 months. Are ya trying to tell me that Korea and China somehow, magically, don't have gold spam problems? Pft.

Update: As of the 10/01 patch there is supposedly an top to block a user when clicking on their name. Still no way to report by clicking on the name.

reporting is now fast also. Gold farmers got removed by the thousands....youtube holds movies about the removal.

Gold sellers arent the issue in any game. Its the gold buyers that start this. With no market this wouldnt happen

@Pyltje02 Yah, this video is from the first few weeks of Aion so not really applicable to the current state of the game.

And you're correct, gold buyers are the source of the problem. No market, no sellers, no spammers, no bots, no hackers. But they are the most difficult to deal with.

The spam problem is really bad as of 10/03/2009. I made a video as well because just describing it sounds not real. Aion does not appear to be doing anything about it. It's bad enough that it is seriously interfering with actions such as looking for a group or asking game questions. I wonder if this severe problem here is really the work of spamemers or perhaps individuals form competing mmo games trying to hurt the game.

I doubt it is anything so insidious. Simpler answer is that this is originally a Korean game. If you watch the video I link when I mention how long gold farmers have been around he explains the origins. Basically it all started in Korea. :)

Me and my dad are playing a fucking server and we cant see are selfs talk every NANO FUCKING sec it keeps spamming this game needs to restart and clear the servers and add spam tools.

If a PvP oriented MMO is your cup of tea, I believe so. The game is absolutely gorgeous and plays quite well. I've only gotten a Templar up to 30 but so far it has been a refreshing change from a glut of easy-mode MMOs that have been about lately. The spam issue, while bad now, will pass. NCSoft's other games have addressed this issue and this one will, too. It will just take some time.

well if they really want the game to be " the biggest" they really have to fix the blocking system, i don't have the game but do YOU think i should get it? is the it worth the sammers?

found out something, the block does work, you just have to play a mini game like thing to catch them all.

First make sure the font size of the chat is set to big, and make the chat window large. Scroll up, so that the chat box does not keep moving. And block away. This works ok, remember, unlike wow where a level one can spam, here they have to get to level 5 first. So your looking at a fairly good window of play with out those spammers. It worked for. If not for you, then...I have no idea.

The block tool is useless there are so many spammers and they come so fast you can't even click the name.

And bots have learned how to get to level 5 to SPAM THE HELL OUT OF GENERAL and LFG. I checked the news, and Aion has lovingly said its becoming one the the biggest MMOs out there. Lets see how long that lasts.
