Wonder what time the GTI would do...
I wouldn't regard hot hatches as fad, as they can be very fun to drive and still be so versatile. For example, my Citroens ZX 1.4i or the 1.9D can go faster than my Alfa Romeo 164 in a dirt road. On the freeway it's a different story, and the 164 is a real sports car, and very classy.
On the other hand the other day I took a tractor wheel inside the ZX to a garage to fix the tire. I can't do that with a sports car. I do love both, in different ways.

Liking the Cologne V6 in the TVR. I test-drove a Ford Ranger once with one of those, the 4.0L SOHC version, and it moved right the hell along for a pickup. Every bit as fast as a Dakota with the small V8 (though not as fast as one with the big one). Legend has it they're quite reliable, too. Don't know what output was like in the days of that TVR, but in such a light vehicle it ought to go like hell.

BEST TOP GEAR VIDEO EVER 1080P HD

@ZILOGz80VIDEOS It's good to see the Big 3 looking back at their past to invent new cars, the problem is many can't afford a Dodge Charger Daytona, Dodge Challenger SRT8 392, Chevy Camaro SS, Shelby Mustang GT500. And we wasted our fuel in the '90s on gas guzzling SUVs instead of bold, brash muscle cars.

@ZILOGz80VIDEOS What I meant to say is you'd WANT the '65 Aston Martin DB5, but many can't afford a vintage Aston. Many don't want to buy the crummy, underpowered hatch, but it's all they can afford. The roads would be littered with classy Brit and Yank cars if the clock was turned back to a time when people could afford them, but reliability was improved.

@ZILOGz80VIDEOS Back in the early '90s, he loved the mark 1 Golf GTI and he compared the Peugeot 206 GTI as being practical and more fun than a Ferrari. What he failed to explain is hot hatches would be more commonplace than old cars because they need more maintenance and repairs than a newer car, which is never cheap. But, the old car was never cheap to begin with.
WAIT.... are the boys actually agreeing???

I have the opportunity to buy a 1974 Jensen Healy, sane one as the video with 50000 miles for 3500. Worth it?
