Aren't people with shorter arms supposed to have the advantage?

I haven't tried a "football bar" but in my opinion, it looks easier than a regular flat bar. The neutral grip looks easier on the joints and looks like it would recruit more triceps in the movement.
-
@jroane89 this is decline not incline, and on the decline you put the bar over your lower pecs. On incline you put it over your upper pecs, that is why they work the muscle they do.
-
@jroane89 Your lats???????? You got to be an idiot. How about his glutes? Did you ever declined heavy weight? Not 225 for reps like evrey other bodybuilder fag. 450 pounds on decline is whole lot different animal. His form is perfect. His focus is on moving the weight not to isolate certain musle groups. We talking raw power here. Don't you get it?
-
@hondarider100r Because there are countless envious little stickboys on YouTube. You'll recognize them via the code phrases "I'm strong for my size" and/or "...pound for pound". They know they can NEVER be thios strong, so their coping mechanism revolves around hating the strength of others.

Why is there so many thumbs down on here ?
-
"450 football bar Setember 28 6:50 Eastern time" lol Classic
-
@jroane89 actually all pressing movements work your lats, and traps, shoulders, triceps, and chest. and he is doin decline, u r workin lower chest, so u r supposed 2 touch your lower chest, duh
-
your wrong on sooo many levels...you dont know his program so you dont know what his primary chest movement is, thus you shouldnt be giving advice.especially to this guy who's most like much stronger than you..powerlifters bring the bar much lower than bodybuilders because there looking for strength.not to look pretty.. and lastly, that is a DECLINE bench you retard
-
@jroane89 his lats? really? have you ever declined before? and do you think he lifts for looks? clearly power.
-
they allow you to bounce it off your chest in comps?
-
Fuck gf just train
-
id say ur veryy strong and yes its ok to bounce BUT but not to the point where its crushin u or hurtin u juss bring it down touch the chest and explode back up
-
good form.
-
is it ok to bounce the weight? im 15 and weight 181 and can bench 245 no bounce
squat 315x5
and deadlift: 315
camp starts in 2 weeks do you think ill be strong enough
-
true its about bein explosive
-
Nice Job
-
what the hell? J.T. is a ranked powerlifter and is sponsored by numerous companies. Get real man, when you can do that then you can talk!
-
Height is a pretty small part of the equation, you have to take overall leverages into account. That 6'6" person very well may have some long ass arms, while the short guy maybe have short arms for his height making the deadlift easier for the tall guy and harder for the short one. Plus, taller people always have the option of gaining weight to increase their leverages. Even leverages doesn't cut it, there's still technique, neural connections with your muscles, etc, etc to be considered.
-
the bounce still counts but decline is way easier than regular
-
Ouch looks like that hurts a bit. Even though he is bouncing it's still a impressive lift. Sometimes i bounce on purpose because it gives me a bigger pump,,,Once in a while.
-
he bounced the bar off his chest pretty hard. That help him a little bit.
-
I'd like to see some of you guys complaining about his bouncing try and "bounce" half that weight.. everybody's a critic...
-
I have been training for over 22 years and I can do 470 pounds.
-
whats a football bar?
-
sure, if you wanna be a powerlifter. but if you train for a sport, perfect form is > bouncing it off your chest.
as far as im concerned, it doesn't matter how you perform in the weight room, but how you perform out on the field.
nice bouncing

another incline bench video of someone doing it wrong....yes you are strong and should be putting your flat bench as your primary movement...the bar needs to be over the very top of your chest almost over your neck....when you bring the bar over your lower chest like you did you are working your lats.....
jroane89 3 years ago
Definitely, you are wrong!

sorry for my ignorance.. but why does the football bar make it harder?
myungsupah 4 years ago
It does make it harder, but add variety to your workout. Also, the football bar works to chest muscle from a different angle because of the placement of the hands.
