This morning, Speaker Pro Tempore Jeff Denham, under orders from Speaker Boehner, refused to allow Assistant Democratic Leader James E. Clyburn to speak on the floor and call for the payroll tax cut conference committee to get to work.

It's time for House Republicans to immediately begin working with Democrats on a long-term agreement to extend the payroll tax cut for 160 million Americans—and avoid taking us to the point of brinkmanship once again.

Americans are out of work and we've got work to do, but Republicans are out of session. We can't wait.

  • it's funny that these republicans are the same ones that slam their citizens for being lazy

  • The Democrats in Congress and the President truely care about Americans. That's more than what I can say about Republicans.

  • How ironic that they say the pledge of allegiance before shutting down the government and ensuring that it doesn't work for another day.

  • Fascist REPUBS need to be strangled with a garrote of zip cord! But god, can you imagine the thrills and just how fun it would be to actually tie em down with their feet in a bucket of cement and wait for it to harden up and the moment when you pull off the bucket mold and prepare them to be drowned!

  • THESE REPUBS ARE CORRUPT AND SUPPORT WALL STREET, LETS NOT FORGET WHAT GOT US HERE

  • JP Morgan held 7.1 Billion dollars in the first three quarters this year for bonuses and yet they reduced there work force by 4% just in the 3rd quarter. We know where there priorities are, bonuses for CEO's and Executives, and they say tax breaks for corporations are going to create jobs. Bull Shit, those tax breaks means higher earnings which will result in bigger bonuses, not more jobs. This is the bull that the repubs keep selling the American people.

  • Our government has been bought by the super wealthy.

  • Disgusting fucking commies!!!

  • I think we need a more respectable people in Congress....

Ron Paul for 2012 Vote in your state's primary!

  • And Boehner is off criticizing Obama for recess appointments at this time, when Congress was supposedly "in session". The House Republicans are a disgrace.

  • Obama didn't go far enough, but he is obviously NOT like this new breed of Republicans who would throw away Social Security, the minimum wage, etc.

  • @wyndeway59 Obama is also republican for his political views and values.
