State Representative Toni Walker —during these tough economic times, it is wrong to balance the state's budget at the expense of Connecticut's children.
Rep. Walker was joined today by Rep's Winfield, Lambert, Cook, Jarmoc, Lewis, Ritter, Lyddy, & O'Brien and various organizations at a press conference to speak out against the Governors $47 million in proposed budget cuts to programs that serve children. Rep. Walker suggested a more aggressive approach to going after $137 million in stimulus funds and stated funds have been available since Spring 2009.
Among the organizations that joined Rep. Walker were the CT Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs, Inc., Wallingford Childcare Center, All Our Kin, Workforce Development Boards, School Based Health Services for the Community Health Centers and Meriden Children's First Initiative.
