To install the codec, use these instructions. Unzip the file. Scan it if you wish. Find the file called 'camcodec'. Right click it and click Install. If it gives you a message saying that it is unsigned, this is ok. If you are worried, it's ok. Click continue anyway. It will install the codec. Now, under video options in CamStudio, you can choose the 'CamStudio Lossless Codec'.

I got mine at London Drugs for $20. Future Shop and Best Buy can have some overpriced stuff, so shop around. My microphone is a Logitech ClearChat Stereo.

Check your settings. Sometimes key frames can be the problem, as well as frames per second.

The other reason is that your computer is slow. It doesn't have enough power to run Camstudio as well as other processes.

I have a fixed region and don't have cursor options...I also have Lossless codec. I'm wondering if it's normal for a 10 second video capture to be over 4 MB? Or do I have incorrect settings? Thanks!

One large problem with all screen capturing programs that use the .avi extension (Audio Video Interleave) is that it is a very large file when created.

yer it works fine now. When I commented 3 weeks ago I had vista :s But I overwrited it recently with xp and now everything is working :) cheers anyways

When I unzipped the file there was a whole bunch of things inside, there are multiple files called 'camcodec' with different file extensions but none of them are exe...you should really be more detailed....

@CamStudio25 It's not the .AVI extension, neither is it just a name. It's a video type (Audio Video Interleave), basically when Audio and Video interleave to make what we call, a YouTube video.

The Lossless Codec, since it has such a powerful quality, it will have a powerful video size... sometimes this isn't the case but because the codec is in big ways, LIKE the "Uncompressed" option it will come out in big file sizes.

@demonzpath use ur ipod touch it has a voice recorder you can e-mail once you e-mail it to yourself download m4a to mp3 converter and import the mp3 to camtasia studio thats what i do
