That's a rather cynical way of looking at things. These are fairy tales for crying out loud! Don't read too much into them. They are meant to be taken at face value. They can be as dark or as light as YOU choose them to be, not what they REALLY are.

@RukoxTeto Well ya that's the idea, pedophiles have always existed. That's what these stories are teaching children to avoid. 'don't talk to strangers' is the oldest saying parents tell their kids, protection from molesters etc. Fairy tales usually have a moral lesson for the reader to take from it, stay away from strangers is the most common lesson :P

I think some people are reading too much into this. It's a fable, a bit dark, but this is just a cartoon...don't take it that seriously...anyway, I doubt most kids watching this show would think about it that much! Just watch the show people!

@pvpstudio08 I don't think it's that cynical. It's not like she's some sweet old lady who is perfectly nice to the kids once they go in her house. She's a cannibal. Pedophilia isn't that much of a stretch. It's come up in other retellings of Hansel and Gretel (Anne Sexton's for example). Fairy tales shouldn't be dismissed as kiddie stories unworthy of deeper thought. Like all stories, they depend on the interpretations of their readers.
