@neilvg1551 And even if we were to take your dualistic perspective and separate the male/female principles in the raga/raginee form, from a spiritual perspective it would make more sense for a woman to pay tribute to the male form (the question should be asked why males do not pay more heed to the raginee form), since this form of tribute would be a tantra between the artist (female) and the art form (male). Or vice versa in the case of a male paying tribute to the female form.
@ritubahar I don't think the point is to dichotomize the musical form into male/female - at least in this scenario. While what you mention may be true, she's talking about making music beyond boundaries and limits, and a lifting of limitations within the art form//fusing with other art forms.
Indian classical music isn't just about raagas, it has raginees too. i wonder why being a female artist she has only mentioned raaga which is a masculine version while raginee is the feminine version of classical composition. I wonder also as to why being a female composer she is paying tribute to a male deity first!

Anoushka Shankar is an incredible musician, and classical Indian music never seems dated somehow.

Yeah Chai is a famous Indian tea. Lots more milk, espresso size, buckets of sugar, and spiced. It's really good
