Where do they go?
The school-to-prison pipeline refers to the national trend of criminalizing, rather than educating students of color. The pipeline encompasses the growing use of zero-tolerance discipline, school-based arrests, disciplinary alternative schools, and secured detention to marginalize our youth and deny them access to education.
Guest speaker Dr. David Stovall, UIC professor, addresses the disproportionate number of Black and Latino students who are filling our prisons.
