A short film about the work of the SOS Project, a revolutionary programme that reintegrates former prisoners back into society and helps to cut youth re-offending rates dramatically.

Ex-offender Junior Smart has succeeded not only in turning his life around, he is also making a positive difference in the lives of others. With the support of St Giles Trust, Junior's SOS Project works with young people to break the cycle of re-offending by helping them build realistic goals for the future. By using as mentors trained workers who are all ex-offenders themselves, SOS Project manages to cut re-offending rates dramatically.

This short documentary-style film was shot on location in London. Junior and other ex-offenders offer honest and moving testimony about their life in and out of prison, and how they are now committed to helping individuals break the cycle and get back into education, training and employment. At the heart of the film is Lawrence, a convicted car thief and former crack user who, thanks to the SOS Project, is now working hard to support his 7 year-old daughter and save for her university education.

The film was produced, directed, shot and edited by a team of four from communications agency MerchantCantos using two Canon 5D DSLR cameras.
