i saw a 142/143 hybrid the other day up near worksop, there is not much of a difference, just the nose of the units primarily, the 143 looks like a series 1 sprinter from the front (later sprinters had the walk through cockpit, early sprinters did not), the 142 still shows its bus origins. I think they have the same engine though, the TL10

153 is a medium weight DMU with walk through capability,
class 142 was developed from a Leyland national Bus. yes a Bus
