  • Don't make this about Netrebko. I think we've all had enough of her. As for Freni, she has one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard, even here while she's not in her fach.

  • La più grande Adina di sempre, mi spiace ma se le mette dietro tutte.

  • @texwiller42a very few forms of singing use the exact same vowels as speech, unless you are doing bluegrass or some other very folksy music. A lot of modern singers have perfectly closed e's and i's and have inelegant and unlovely singing. That said, it was a little open even for my taste here. The perfectly pronounced speech-standardized vowels are a modern styling, that does not always suit the tradition of beauty in bel canto. There is a longer, older tradition of modification.

  • @hollygash, Sorry but "prendi" hasn't got a open e. Maybe in some terrible dialect accent may use open e, not in correct Italian. Ciao

  • God, we should all be so lucky. Glorious.

  • when she began with "prendi" I thought this was a French interpretation....instead of a nasal a sound, shouldn't it begin with an open e ?

  • OMG! Simply Amazing! I never imagined that Freni could sing this role so well!

  • She has her own interpretation quite different of more light soprano but always intelligent and with a marvelous voice. I loved and enjoyed this soprano in a lot of titles as Don Carlo, Boheme, Fedora, etc.etc. One of the best. Brava, Brava.

  • @mezzoemperatris dare i say "comparing champagne to coca-cola"? lol

  • not her fach? there's a huge diversity of voices that sing this role. She sang Nanetta and Norina. Of course she fits in this. She's fabulous =)

  • Beautiful voice, but I prefer Renata Scotto

  • "Prahhhhhhh-ehndi" You just have to love her. :-)
