Tom Goldtooth, Executive Director of Indigenous Environmental Network (http://ienearth.org) and Nominee for Secy. of Interior on the Progressive Cabinet outlines what he'd do in first 100 days as part of a progressive administration. Two of his proposals call for implementing a Seventh Generation Principle, i.e. assessment process for determining how the Interior Department stewards the resources under its care. Another of Mr. Goldtooth's proposals is to settle the Eloise Cobell trust fund case that alleges that for over 120 years, the Federal Government has misappropriated funds that were to go to Native Americans as compensation for land forcibly taken from them. The plaintiff, Ms. Elloise Cobell and 500,000 beneficiaries have suffered over 10 years of delays engineered by both the Clinton and Bush Administrations.
