I wanted a Smart Fortwo, but the transmission pushed me away. I tried manual mode but it felt sluggish. It was too jerky for my taste. I wish the Smart came with a proper gearbox. If it had a CVT transmission. I would've bought one.

I own one. And in full auto mode its super slow. If you change gears in semi mode and matching it too the Rpms its actually ok. And i makes good sense with no clutch in the cties.

Ive managed 92mpg out of mine but 100mpg is possible but Hypermiling as it's called makes for very tiring driving.

I wish they brought the Diesel to the U.S. I have the standard petrol version that I adore but you simply cant compare the MPG

I have a 2006 Canadian-spec Cabrio cdi, and love the economy. Us politics will never allow it to be sold here, though. If the engine is less that 200 hp or it's not an SUV, no one seems to want to buy anything else.
