Joe: Racing

I woke up as the sunlight poured into our cabin through the windows. Rolling over, I glanced at the clock. 5:30 am. Last night was…...WOW. I could still smell her hair and remember the feeling of it tickling my neck as she slept. I quickly and quietly got ready for my morning run, slipping on my favorite pair of sneakers. I grabbed a water bottle and shut the door behind me, careful not to wake anybody.

I ran for what I guessed was about five miles around the camp. I wasn't really sure since I wasn't paying attention anyway. I was thinking of yesterday. My mind was in chaos and my thoughts were jumbled. I sat on a rock near Demi's cabin. The lines "I never thought that I'd catch this love bug again" was an understatement to say the least. Over a year ago, I was at the same camp site in Canada with the same people. Things seemed to have come full circle. I was with the same place, with the same people, playing the same character, touring again, and still was in love with Demi. Yes, I'll admit it, I'm in love with Demi. Speak of the devil…...I looked up only to find Demi was coming out of her cabin, locking the door.

"Hey Demi!" I called out.
"Oh! Hey Joe!" she called back, walked towards me. I shifted over to give her some room. "What are you doing out here?" she asked.
"I just went for a run. Gotta stay in shape you know." I laughed.
"Yeah, like you need to be any buffer than you are already." She laughed sarcastically.
"I was just taking a break. You wanna join me for another two miles?" I asked.
"Maybe...…give me a sec." She said, running up her cabin steps. "You can come in, you know." she called over her shoulder. I followed her in. "Give me a few." she said, grabbing a pair of sweatpants and a hoodie, and headed into the bathroom.

Her guitar was sitting on the bed with a few papers scattered around it, her pick neatly tucked between the "A" and "E" strings. I carefully picked up her guitar and sat on the bed across from hers. The one I assumed was Selena's. Running my fingers across the fingerboard, I thought back to the time Demi taught me to play the chords to one of her songs. I started playing the chords she had written on the pages scattered on her bed.

"Ready!" came a bubbly voice from the bathroom door. She was dressed comfortably with her hair up in a messy ponytail, held back with a headband. "Let's go slowpoke!" She said, grabbing a pair of converse and slipping them on. I set the guitar down and put the pick back.
"That's a pretty good song." I complimented, when we got outside. "Did you write lyrics for it yet?"
"No, not just yet." she smiled. "I'm still waiting for some inspiration to hit me."
"I'm sorry, I don't hit girls." I laughed. She looked at me like I was crazy.
"Ok, that was a bad one." I laughed. "It was a pick up line…... Like I was inspiration...… but I wasn't going to hit you…...cause you said you..." I babbled.
"Joe," she interrupted.
"Yeah?"
"Just stop talking." she laughed and sped ahead. I caught up to her in a few brisk steps.
"So do you need any help with it?"
"I'd love that." she grinned. "But after we finish running ok?"
"Alright well then let's go! You're so slow!" I joked and sprinted ahead. "Catch me if you can!" I called over my shoulder.
"You're going down!" she called back.

I let her catch up to me, and then stopped. She ran right past me and I burst out laughing.
"That was cruel, Joe!"
"I know. I'm sorry. Let's just walk for a while ok?" I smiled apologetically.
"Ok, deal." she grinned. As I put my foot out to take a step, she put hers in front of mine and tripped me. I caught myself at the last second and kept myself from doing a face plant.
"What was that for?" I whined.
"Payback!" she cackled.
"Stop trying to make me fall for you!" I laughed.
"Your pick up lines are getting better, Joseph." She winked as she continued to laugh at me. "But they still don't work on me."
"Well, practice makes perfect." I shrugged.
"Speaking of practice, do you want to head back and work on the song?" She asked.
"Aww, is Demi afraid of a little competition?"
"NO! Fine, we'll race back. How does that sound!?"
"Bring it!" I shouted. And we ran as fast we could back to her cabin.

PS. If you haven't seen Demi teaching Joe to play guitar on the CR set, you seriously need to! It's the cutest thing ever!

Guess what! Joe said that his "best day ever" was the Texas State Fair. Does anybody see a connection? *wink* If not, let me explain. Last year the JB played at the Texas State Fair a few weeks after filming for CR wrapped. Demi and Selena came out to visit them and support them. In the JB's Book, they said that they LOVE when friends come out to visit them at shows. And then they mention DEMI! (p.57) and then on the next page there's a picture of Joe and Demi talking (p.58.) Well yeah I think you get it! AWW I LOVE JEMI!!!
