It didn't die, sure Gorbachev temporarily defeated it, for now it sleeps, but Russia is still Communist. Wanna know why? Because the PEOPLE are still Communist. In order to end Communism in Russia you must end the Russian people, and the russian people will not stand for that.

@Zukhov1945 When governments cannot or refuse to funtion they are eventually forced into doing so.Study some American revolution politics.Same type of game.At the end people lament the good in that system many times it becomes the focus of the new system to carry on those values many times better than before.I don't miss alway's having to think about missiles flying overhead..Our government presently rents military helicopters from Russia.The army is quite happy with them :D

Quite true. I also feel a shift in attitude is necessary. The overwhelming sentiment I see in modern Socialism and its supporters is "don't worry about it, just sit back and we'll take care of your needs". Socialism and Democracy require self discipline and involvement on the part of all for it to work. It is a society that requires personal responsibility, a trait I am not seeing encouraged anywhere these days.
