A cartoon for a feature film of the same name-1976. The producers were busted, the film shut down and the cartoon was never released...too bad, one of my all time favorite shorts created by Arnie Wong

  • funny I like it...... If you go to my videos you can see it in better quality with the "HD" choice

  • the hd choice looks great..a little color correction on the yelo side would make it darn near perfect...the clarity is bueno!....btw ..how did you obtain a copy of this...just curious

  • i used to watch this in jail. makes me kinda homesik for mine boyfrend Tito and his brand of jailhouse loving-

  • hahahahah

  • hahaha, i have the tune on a 45 single, it was by the Rainy Daze, anyone wanna buy it? hehehe

  • Thanx... I've been racking my brain trying to recall that bands name. How many 45's you got? I may want one for my juke box..!

  • In 1967 when I had to spend two weekends in the L.A. County jail for speeding on my Triumph motorcycle in Whittier, the turn-keys used to play KRLA on the overhead in the afternoon and "That Acapulco Gold" would come on sometimes.

I think this is a fantastic cartoon/animation and should be re-released to share this fine piece of period Americana with the World. "Where the streets are lined with bricks of....Apapulco Gold"

  • I bought the DVD a few years back... great party flick

  • Stations soon learned of its subject and the song sadly died. The band's story is tragic. My copy of the CDs was printed in Spain and sounds great. It's prolly from a wet* LP, a reel or even a Muntz 4-track. I cherish my 45 and have played my it only once (on the radio)! The LP's a mix of offkey covers of Soul, and some cool Garage.

*To play vinyl wet, dedicate a 3gm Stanton and shell. Make a ring of distilled water so the Stanton literally floats in it. Photoflow is optional: 1 drop per cup.

  • the person who drew the cartoon is my design teacher.....how gold is that

  • hello?

  • First time I ever saw this was in 1974, at chruch. No kidding :P

  • I love it! This was Top 40 stuff in the day. Also there was David Peal and the Lower East Side with "I Like Marijuana" sung to the old tune "Peanut Butter".

I am hoping someone can help me with the title and artist of another old pot classic that is slow and lyrics start with the line: "South of the California border grows a magic weed from Mexico..." I have been looking all over creation for that tune and nobody has it on their list, not even this song. Let me know if you know it, please.

  • @cafe9802 You don't say! Anyway I'm a staying away from any 4/20 we'll be having here, not that there's anything of the sort going on here(rally for weed to be legalized). Even if there is, I don't plan on inhaling anybody elses 2nd hand weed.........I'M DOING IT FOR MY FRIEND!

  • The 4/20 is next week, where you can feel free to light up, in back of and obviously around the Vancouver Art Gallery, without the cops intervening. They actually don't mingle with the huge crowd that will probably once again overflow onto Howe steet and even one lane of the very busy Georgia St. The cops are there just in case of trouble and for traffic problems that arise. At 4 o'clock there will once gain be a large plume of smoke if the winds don't blow, check it out on youtube,

  • This was a top 10 hit? here in vancouver canada back in '67. It's the original sung by Rainy Daze. It's an unusually different song(lyricwise)....however it tied in nicely with other songs like.. light my fire, the flower children, episle to dippy, round round, san fransico, white rabbit and so on...they all had flower power going for them. There was however a whole lot of competition during(1967) this the height of the so called british invasion. Thanks for sharing flower power! lol

  • $65 @ kilo in Santa Monica, 1968

"Follow the yellow brick road". Captain Beefheart & his Magic Band

  • A Friend gave me the DVD years ago.. Don't know where she got it.
