"The LaserDisc (LD) is a home video disc format, and was the first commercial optical disc storage medium. Initially marketed as Discovision in 1978, the technology was licensed and sold as Reflective Optical Videodisc, Laser Videodisc, Laservision, Disco-Vision, DiscoVision, and MCA DiscoVision until Pioneer Electronics purchased the majority stake in the format and marketed it as LaserDisc in the mid to late 1980s." - Wikipedia

  • Very few of these actually work in the world.

  • @weeowey i've seen a fair amount that still work. some of the discs get laser rot though.

  • Schneider's List? Don't you mean Schindler's (pronounced "shindler") List.

  • @Shakermaker01 yes, i read it wrong, lol

  • @Shakermaker01 i'm aware.

  • hey man could u open up the player and show how the 5-disc changer works cuz i havent seen anything inside the multi-cd laserdisc player.

  • @KelvintoKind3 correction. the rotating part is the other way around. the laser does the rotating i think while the carousel stays stationary. very odd mechanism. i didn't get a chance to look too too closely at it.

  • @neotheonly01 Sounds like Dune

  • @cubdukat The last LaserDisc movies to come out in the US market was "Sleepy Hollow" and "Bringing out the Dead" in 2000.

The very last Laserdisc movie to ever come out was "The Cell" and "Tokyo Raiders" by Pioneer Japan in 2001.

  • @rhymeandreasoning

Its a goof thing you didn't... I recently sold two Pioneer LD players and my small collection of about 40 movies on Ebay... got a whopping $87 for the whole lot [thank goodness I didn't ship, just pick up]... The quality was great back then with big CRT TV's ... on a LCD it looks like poop

I took a bath moneywise.... then came DVD and blasted this format as BD is now killing DVD... slowly but surely

  • I always wanted one of these machines.. Kirk..Montreal, Canada

  • @weeowey

I still have two that work great.

  • @Shakermaker01 No, he read it right. It's a Jew movie.

  • Interesting!

  • Hey I think it would be really interesting to see how DVD, HD disc, and Blu Ray compare to Laserdisc when it comes to picture and sound quality now that would really be an interesting video especially if this technology did use surround sound back in the late 70's just saying.

  • Nice presentational on LD. Congrats!
