In America the land of the free, 80% of all Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Youth are harassed at school.
74% suffer harassment, while 84% suffer verbal abuse.
In approximately 82% of these cases, the faculty and the school administration never intervene.
80% of all GLBT suffer isolation.
26% leave home when they come out of the closet.
60% of all hate crimes are against males perceived to be gay.
50% of all suicides are gay males .

The statistics are staggering and growing more every day.

We as a country have been engaged in a war against drugs and alcohol for decades. We have developed many well promoted campaigns to "just say no."
These programs are desperately needed.
However the suicide rate in the GLBT community is reaching epidemic proportions.
Have these statistics gone by the wayside simply because this community is still not widely accepted?
