  • Hi Unflappable - Sorry to hear that you have been having problems with your Avent breast pump. To troubleshoot, try taking the motor off the pump body & hold down the blue button to start the motor, if you are getting a red flashing light , please call Philips Avent customer service in your country to assist you further.

If you get a green light then you may have a vacuum leak so you need to use your spare parts set, change over your diaphragm & check the seal on all your silicone parts.

  • @PhilipsAVENT Have just bought a brand new Avent electric pump and found after 2 uses that it won't draw the milk. I also found similar problem as sardav2011. Bub is 4wks old so milk is in and established. Was also wondering if the little blue dock piece where the stem slots into in the motor is supposed to move from side to side or is it supposed to to fixed. Mine moves so don't know if that is the problem. Please help asap or will have to return to place of purchase. Thanks

  • The arm is meant to move in a circular motion. If the motor turns on & you get a green light & the motor is responding to you, the problem may be with the silicone seals.Best way to see whether the problem is the motor or seals- take off the motor & put on the manual handle instead. Pump manually & if it works, then the issue is the motor & you should contact Philips AVENT in your country. If the pump doesnt work used manually then the seals may be the problem; try replacing them with the spares.

  • Yes, you are correct sardav2011.

If the stem is getting caught in the motor when the pump is being switched off, then it may simply be that the lifting arm is finishing in the up rather than down position.

If this is all it is, simply turning on the motor again will allow the arm to rotate down and release the diaphragm.

If the stem is getting caught and the motor stopping in mid use, there may actually be a problem with the motor and it may need to be replaced. Hope this helps

  • Hi Quirky524

The cost to the public dependson many factors - there is a great deal of research and development to make the product work safely and successfully, quality material and packaging costs,on logistics (transportation & handling from manufactures to the end user) and other costs based on ImportationTaxes. So there are many factors combine to bring you a quality product that is safe to use.

    Hope this answer your question!

  • why my pump has squeaky sound when i use it! someone pls help me!

  • Sorry to hear that you have been having problems with your breast pump, occasionally you when the silicone of the diaphragm dry’s out due to sterilisation and use it can some times make a squeaking sound and although this does not affect the use of the pump it can be a bit annoying.

To reduce this sound you can smear a little Vaseline, Petroleum Jelly or nipple cream around the rim of the diaphragm and on the on the pump body where the handle pivots which will help reduce the squeaking sound

  • @PhilipsAVENT

my pump has stopped working! when i turn iton i get the pump to make one large upstroke with good suction, but when i pump in order to try and get a rhythm the pump only moves from side to side with no suction at all!

  • @sardav2011 No, but I did find what was wrong. As the pump has an up and down stroke if you stop it on say the up stroke you cant remove the stem. Just press the button again to move the pump one stroke down and it comes off easily. Hope this helps.

  • @Alfafella

    Hi

Im having the same problem, did you get an answer to this?

  • Hi, I have an electric Avent breast pump but I've noticed that the diaphram and stem get stuck to the control handle which means it won't work. Does anyone have any feedback on why or what is causing this. This item is brand new.

  • i recommend this pump to anyone out there..it is expensive but really worth it..i bought many breast pumps to my wife but none works wonder like this one..it really does like what was written on the box, "Express more. Quickly".."Clinically proven to express more milk than a hospital electric breast pump"..i bought the manual version & it is really good..
