Sorry for the poor quality, I guess that is what one gets when one spends $60 on a video camera! The text of the speech is below:

Good afternoon everyone. My name is Jeremy Jones. I am a resident of Ringgold, GA. I have come today to voice my frustration with our current situation, as I am sure you are as well.
Let me be clear. I have never been a part of a public protest. There have been many issues over the past 20 years of which upset and frustrate me. But not once did I take to the street in protest. I know many people here today, and at other Tea Parties across the country are attending their first protest as well. Why is this issue so important to us? I certainly cannot answer for you, or anyone else, but I will explain why today I choose to be here, and would be nowhere else.
A local radio talk show host asked the question on air around Independence Day of 1995 I believe. The question was, What would it take for YOU to join a true revolution? I thought for a moment and decided to call. My answer was, When the government takes more than half of money in taxes.
Ladies and Gentlemen, there are many of us here today where this is the case. There are many here today that are paying over 30% of their income in Federal taxes, 10% of their purchases in sales tax, 30% of fuel costs in gasoline taxes. Add in property taxes, capital gains taxes, user fees, among many, many other government payment, and some are paying more than half of their earnings in taxes. Therefore, true to my word, I am here today to announce, it is time we ask ourselves, What will OUR revolution be?
We are all here because we believe our government is spending too much. Some estimate over 90% of the federal budget is on items for which the government should have no influence. I am sure that is an extreme example. Therefore, lets just assume one fourth of the current budget is waste, and/or unconstitutional. That would be about 1 TRILLION dollars. Let me explain exactly how large 1 TRILLION dollars is.
You would need to take the ENTIRE lifetime earnings of every person at ONE sold out Georgia or Tennessee football game, and the earning of their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to get to 1 Trillion dollars.
It would cost EVERY man, woman, and child in the states of TN, GA, AL, FL, and NC about $20,000 to equate to 1 Trillion dollars.
Before a problem can be solved, the origin of the problem must be identified. So, Whose fault is this mess? I do not blame Democrats. I do not blame Republicans. I do not blame Pelosi, Reid, Obama, or Bush. I blame myself, and I blame YOU. We are the problem, and we must change. We must stop rewarding our representatives and elected officials who are taking our money, and money from others. We must stop electing people who support the federal spending of money of which our Constitution plainly dictates is not permitted.
This includes money spent in YOUR state or district. Should our federal government be spending money to pave or redo portions of Highway 153? No more than they should be spending money for energy saving lights in downtown Detroit. Should our government be spending money to widen Cloud Springs Road in my district? No more than federal money should be spent to research the grape genetics in the state of New York.
It is easy for us criticize the pork projects, and bridges, and welcome centers being paid, in full or part, by our government across the country, but somehow, we think the projects in OUR area are worthwhile. It is easy to claim appreciation and thanks to our local congressmen for bringing the money home. But remember, they do not bring home the money without another congressman, or senator also taking some money back to their constituents. This cycle MUST end.
Our Constitution is a pretty simple, but yet brilliant document. Our constitution clearly outlines on what our Federal government should spend money. Outside of those specific parameters, our states, or local governments should collect taxes to pay for these projects.
Our problem did not come to us overnight, nor will the solution be realized overnight. However, we must start now. We must reject ALL unconstitutional government spending. We must remove ALL incumbents. If you support Republicans, and your incumbent is a Republican, support his opponent in the primary, the same for Democrats. Support a third party candidate if you must, but the only way to solve this problem is to remove those responsible for the problem. I know of not one single local elected official who is exempt from this call. Remove them all, if their replacements do no better, remove them, if those do no better, remove them. But at some point, our elected officials will get the point. WE DEMAND OUR GOVERNMENT STOP SPENDING MONEY, AND STOP NOW!

  • No, the banks were forced to lend to non-credit worthy clients. This practice started in in the late 90's and continued. It was TOO MUCH regulation, not the lack thereof.

  • This man should join the military if he feels like becoming a Revolutionary man. His fake outrage is so apparent that it's comical. The only people who were getting taxed were the middle class. All the Rich 1% of Americans paid absolutely no taxes. Now that Obama has cut taxes for the middle class and taxed the Rich ,these clown show up .

  • @Rightwingist : LMAO....I'm barely out of college a year & you state I'm 50 years old. Keep dreaming & keep the dream alive this Nov...it's all you have left!

  • @mavrek47 - Because that is how old you are, 50 right? That is a mighty mature age for a person with a mentality of a 3rd grader. I hope you pick you some really good teams after Nov. You are going to need them in order to occupy you time.

  • @Rightwingist: Cool! Unblocked....got back from a biz trip last night.

  • @Rightwingist : LMAO! No, why would I upgrade to 50? At least you have something to cheer about (non politically) - Gators, Marlin & Braves. : )

  • @mavrek47 I would much rather go to see the Marlins or the Gators or even the Atlanta Braves. Kind of in my neck of the woods. As far as updating and keeping up with the times, shouldn't you being upgrading to mavrek50 about now?
