A 2' stop??? As far as I know,only the two big Hass instruments (of which this isn't one) have one. If you're referring to the 4', it is used magnificently here. On any original northern European instrument, the 2x8, 1x4 registration will sound breathtaking :-)

@kj971117 LOL

I don't mean to rip him a new one. It just seems as if he cares more about looking like a gould-esque virtuoso as opposed to the beauty of the music itself. He shouldn't use the 2" stop.
Virtuosity isn't about speed; it's about control.

(kj971117) I said that this was rushed 8 months ago because it is. The change from cut time to 3/8 would automatically change the tempo (besides the fact that the fughetta is a bit shorter)... So this piece doesn't need his help with the change in tempo although this is an ouverture in the French style. He doesn't take the repeat which is unacceptable considering there are two different cadences for both the introduction and fughetta.... But i can almost understand....considering he isn't readi

@kj971117 I agree

I don't call it a rush...I think hantai, he manages to make the articulations clear, though the tempo of the overture is fast, he is not lousy with each note, they're still very discritized, clear

I never thought I would see "worse than Gould" applied to Bach...
-
I hate the way he plays the ouverture. He rushes through the entire thing. Worse than Gould. Music isn't for everyone.
-
I like Hantai´s Goldbergs, fortunately he manages not to put to much french in it ;)
and interesting, how the instruments still sounds so nicely - if you consider its age! There should also be a video of Scott
Ross up on youtube where he plays Couperin on the same harpsichord
Magnificent :-)
