Helicopter Water bombing. Air fire attack. NSWRFS Rural fire service helicopters in action fighting fires. Aviation support to ground crews. Not just the skycrane but other types of helicopters used to fight fires around Sydney in surrounding bushland, including kmax, BK117. All aerial photography was done handheld out the door of several Squirrel (Astar) helicopter types. no time to use a gimble mount, its go and shoot where the action is.

They've really stripped everything off those skycranes to save weight, even the fairings around the engines.

I always have to wonder if dropping these buckets of water on a forest fire does any real good? To me it sort of looks like pissing on a volcano trying to stop the lava flow.
