Per the request of fellow RKC II, Steve Freides, Dr. Mark Cheng is shown demonstrating the bottoms-up or pistol grip version of the Turkish Get-Up with a 16 kg (35 lb) kettlebell. Dr. Cheng first tried this variation at the Level 1 RKC in April 2007 where he served as an assistant instructor.
The bottom-up version requires a mix of grip strength and balance, and is NOT to be attempted until the regular Turkish Get-Up progression is mastered. One of Dr. Cheng's kettlebell students, Guro John Spezzano, is shown in a separate clip demonstrating Dr. Cheng's "Tactical" TGU progression for combat martial artists & tactical operators.

great stuff- too bad your music couldn't be included on this non-money making clip. Poor music industry is clueless to the new world of business on the internet

Comrade Mark,
Is that a 24kg or 16kg? That is one hell of a TGU! Great Job you and your organization makes me wish I took that job offer in LA!

And sure enough, Steve Freides managed to pull this off with his right hand the same day this video was posted. GOOD JOB, STEVE!!!
