Bob Fosse was one of Broadway's most successful choreographers, winning an unprecedented nine Tony Awards. He was nominated for four Oscars for his work on film, winning Best Director for "Cabaret." Fosse was the first person to win a Tony, an Oscar and an Emmy all in the same year (1973).
Twelve years after his 1987 death, the musical revue "Fosse" opened on Broadway, showcasing his work. The revue was nominated for 7 Tony Awards and won 3, including "Best Musical." In 2002, the revue was shown on PBS as part of its "Great Performances" series - and released on DVD.
This montage was created from excerpts of that highly recommended DVD. View the entire version of many of these excerpts at http://www.theBestArts.com/Fosse/

There is not enough Ben Vereen on You Tube. I know that he did a TV Special years ago and I would love to see it again. He was voted Entertainer of the Year.

Watching Fosse choreograph himself reminds me of the achievement forty years ago of an athlete who, contrary to established technique, revolutionized the sport of high jumping. While his method,
to many, looked funny, stupid and embarassing, what with going over the bar backwards and all; any fan of Fosse ought to appreciate the poetic justice behind this fellow's winning of a gold medal due almost entirely to the ingenuity of what is now proudly called the Fosbury flop.
