@dutch1565 Ocala is well known as the horse capital of the world, one of only five cities (four in the USA and one in France) permitted under Chamber of Commerce guidelines to use this title based on annual revenue produced by the horse industry.
Great job on the history of Ocala. I have wonderful memories growing up there in the 1950's when we would cross 17th Street in our bare feet to feed oranges to the neighbor's cows. It's changed a lot now. The gentleman's farm across the street is now a Publix, and the house I grew up in is gone. But I can still ride through Ocala and tell my own kids what used to be here and what we used to do there. Thanks for the reminders.
Excellent job, Grant. I grew up in Ocala and graduated from Vanguard H.S. in 1985. I remember a lot of the images you have in your video. I loved Six Gun Territory as a boy and even that old Morrison's Cafeteria Sign and old yellow decor. (It was ugly!)
Anyway, thanks for taking me back to my past. Love it!
