This year is the 25th anniversary of Metallica's Ride The Lightning album. It's almost unreal. I like a lot of new music but there aren't many albums that came out in the last few years that I can realistically look at and think "I'll be listening to this 25 years down the line, and it'll still sound awesome." Say what you will about Metallica, but their earlier works have really stood the test of time...I'll be looking forward to the 25th anniversaries of Puppets and Justice pretty soon.

Additionally, this album holds a lot of significance for me because "Fade To Black" really helped me overcome a plateau in my guitar playing - Kirk Hammett may not be the greatest soloist in the world but I wouldn't be anywhere without him. After getting accustomed to CoB style solos it was tricky to relearn the bluesy bend/hammer-on combos that are a key part of Kirk's style, I'm sure I messed them up pretty bad but it's a lot of fun to try anyway.

So congratulations again to Metallica on the 25th anniversary of Ride The Lightning - I salute you!

  • link of tab?

  • @10metalrock Ultimate Guitar and 911 tabs have good material usually, plus it's rated by users.

  • hey man, ive just started to watch your videos and you are really great

i have a question, which overdrive pedal is the best, boss sd1, zakk wylde sig mxr overdrive, or the ibanez ts9?

  • @butterknucklez Also, if you're going to use these pedals on an already distorted tone, make sure you set the pedal gain to low and the volume to high because the other way around (gain = high, vol = low) sounds pretty bad, at least in my opinion =P Thanks for watching and commenting!

  • @deadnightshinobi thanks

and are both of them good volume boosters for leads?

  • @butterknucklez Umm I think it depends on if you run them between your guitar output at the amp input, or whether you put them in the amp's effect loop. Honestly though the Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster is the best "lead booster" pedal I've used.
